MECODES-Mechatronic Collaboration Design Solution

MECODES is a unique suite of MCAD and ECAD collaboration solutions. It introduces a new approach for multi-domain collaboration in the design process of electromechanical products. So as to improve product design, enhance cost reduction and boost interdisciplinary innovation, MECODES adopts latest technologies for incremental design model data exchange protocols. The abundance of the shared data model enables an inventive development and realistic physical simulations.

Mechatronic design at a new level of collaboration

Current competitive markets require, more than ever before, that engineers collaborate throughout the entire product design process. This imposes a burden to the applied MCAD or ECAD tools which use their own product data management, graphical representation for components and assemblies, and development. In order to collaborate in “real-time”, it is essential to establish a direct method of communication that facilitates the back and forth flow of data between design teams.

Integration of multiple PCBs from different CAD tools

CADCAM Group has developed a new MECODES software tool for integration of the market-leading PLM platform, i.e. the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, with leading tools for PCB design systems, namely, Mentor Xpedition, PADS Professional & PADS, Cadence Allegro & OrCAD, and Altium Designer. Engineers working with CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE and the relating ECAD tools may collaborate on a common development model by using native model data, components, copper trace layers, and interconnections in full 3D representation for the entire electromechanical product.

Rich set of Electromechanical data available and at disposal to the designers

Common electromechanical tasks depend on model exchange protocols which are based on standard industry protocols and contain different model related information. The usual collaboration between engineers occurs only at model exchange between CAD tools and disciplines they are working in. A central point of the MECODES environment is the design model within the CATIA V5 or CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE. These data and design models are utilized to store collaborative information and ECAD and MCAD project-specific data.
