One of the central features in the MECODES collaboration environment is the common PCB library management system. This is a key element in ECAD/MCAD collaboration. MECODES links ECAD footprints and schematic symbol from ECAD authoring tools with CATIA V5 or CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE 3D model of the electronic parts. MECODES delivers more than 3000 3D ECAD CATIA parts which are linked with ECAD library.

The PCB library has a component update feature for users who want to extend the library with new components or modify existing ones. One of the most important features is the link between 3D component representation (MCAD) and electrical component representation (ECAD) which includes a schematic symbol and footprint for each component. The created common library stores also the transformation matrix which is controlling the component placement into the model of CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE, thereby reducing the risk of misplacement of components on the PCB.
